Algae Happy Hour

Interested in holding an algae happy hour? Email me at studiocornix@gmail.com!

Part of my sci-art practice is sharing my love of all things microbial and algal with those who want to learn more about our amazing microbiome! Science interaction and learning aren’t just for kids, it’s for the micro-curious of all ages. I have several workshops and events I put on in conjunction with scientific organizations or just for fun.

Algae Happy Hours are multi-sensory events where we eat, drink, observe, and learn about the scientific and cultural history of microscopic algae. These 2-hour interactive sessions are fun, and informative, and give attendants a chance to experience the microbiome in a new way. Each algae happy hour features at least one algae species, a snack and drink with tasting notes, and the cultural and scientific history behind that organism. We also observe them under the microscope!

Microscopy is an important part of my sci-art sessions. Some of us never get a chance to work with microscopes or view samples.
